EEPROM/EPROM Reader and Writer Arduino shield

February 03, 2013

A while back I had to read from some parallel EPROMs and write to a 28C256 EEPROM. With the help of some shift registers and a bread board, I finally got the damn thing working correctly.

I actually went as far as making the Arduino app have a decent serial interface so I can read and write to it from a normal RS232 connection. That allowed me to write a processing app to easily upload a hex file and verify everything was working correctly.

The breadboard has been sitting around using up space and I figured why not just make the thing into an Arduino shield and move on? So after some time in Eagle and some time waiting for the boards to come in from BatchPCB, the boards showed up today!

Now I have enough back log of PCB’s to build to place another Mouser order! Between the Facedancer20, these shields, and the LED Matrix boards that should be arriving soon, the Mouser order is going to come in around $200.

Oh well. That’s the price of having fun…
